Do you plan to relocate your family to Dubai on a residence visa? If so, you must be aware of the UAE Residency Visa procedures. This blog will review the documentation, process, and cost of obtaining a family residency visa in Dubai.
Documents Attestation : First and foremost attestation of the documents including marriage certificate, birth certificate from the country of origin and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in UAE ( MOFA) must be completed. The approximate cost for attestation is AED 160 in MOFA . If you wish to engage any corporate service providers for attestation services ,their services fees will be applicable.
Tenancy Contract : During visa application, you must provide your residency contract (EJARI) confirming proof of residence under sponsor name.
Salary Requirement : There is a requirement of a minimum salary of AED 4,000 for the sponsor to apply for the family visa . Revised salary certificate or the signed employment contract must be provided.
The applicant needs to submit the below documents to facilitate the visa application
Passport copies of the family members who wish to obtain the visa.
Original Emirates ID of the sponsor.
Attested birth certificate/ marriage certificate or divorce certificate of the applicant.
Passport size photographs with white back ground of the applicants.
Process and Approx. Cost of Dubai Dependent Visa.
File Opening with GDFRA: To initiate the dependent visa process, the initial step is to open the file with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs.(GDRFA) The cost is approx. AED 270 for one family.
Application of Entry of Permit : Once your file is opened with GFRFA , you need to apply for the entry permit for the dependants . The cost for entry permit is AED 500 for those outside the country and those who are inside the UAE have to pay AED 1,200 (approx.) and later change the status.
Change of Status – Inside the Country Applicant : The change of status process only applies if the applicants are already inside the country . The cost for change of status is AED 675( approx.). Those who are enter the UAE with an entry permit can directly proceed to next step of medical fitness .
Medical Fitness Test : If your family members are above 18 years , then they are required to take the medical fitness test . Applicants below 18 years are exempted from taking the medical fitness test. Normal medical fitness test costs AED 240 and for VIP services AED 800 (approx.) .
Emirates Identity Card : After the medical fitness reports are out , the applicant can proceed with Emirates ID application. Emirates ID fees depends on the tenure of visa . For one year visa with typing charges it amounts to AED 180 ,for two years AED 280 and for three years AED 380 .
Visa Stamping : The final step is visa stamping or issuing the visa linked to the Emirates ID . As per recent announcement by UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) there is no visa stamping in the passport and the authorities have already implemented the same in some emirates and free-zones . Dubai residents may still need to stamp the visa on passport for the time being The cost for visa stamping is AED 500 ( approx.) .
